Smartphones and touchscreens are taking over!
• Consumers, wireless operators, and device manufacturers have overwhelmingly voted for touchscreens
   and smartphones vs. conventional 9-key "feature" phones

Input is still difficult!

   most mobile phone keyboards is still challenging.
       ο It is still slow and inaccurate for most consumers, particularly compared to a PC keyboard.
• Physical keyboards double the thickness of the device or require unpleasant compromises on screen
   sizes for candy bar style devices.
       ο Despite adding to the size, weight and cost of mobile device, most physical keyboards don't produce
          better input speed and accuracy then a touchscreen keyboard.
• While voice input has advanced, device based voice interpretation still isn't very reliable even in quiet
   environments like an office.
       ο Server-based voice input takes too long and still has many challenges with accuracy, especially in
          noisy environments like outdoors, in a restaurant or in a car.

The world needs a better input method.
• Voice minutes have flattened out while data has surged on mobile devices in most developed countries.
• Data – mostly e-mail, SMS and Web search – requires text input.
